Eric Joseph Keyes, 48, of Dallas, Texas and formerly of Lenoir passed away unexpectedly at his residence on October 4, 2012. He was born on August 5, 1964 and was the son of the late Joseph Keyes and Nettie Keyes. He is survived by two sisters, Sylvia Keyes and Joan Keyes McGee and husband, Dr. Timothy McGee. Also, he is survived by a beloved family friend, Nancy Holloway.
Eric was a graduate of Hibriten High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Most of his career was spent in the retail sector of business as a buyer, merchandiser, and strategic planner. He has worked for many reputable and prestigious retail companies such as Rich's Department store in Atlanta, Georgia, Federated Department Stores Corporate in New York City, Home Depot Corporate in Atlanta, Georgia, and most recently JCPenney Corporate in Dallas, Texas. He lived in many different places throughout his career and made many wonderful and devoted friends along the way.
He loved cooking, antiques, watching his favorite TV shows, good food, and good times with his friends and family. He was fun loving and had a wonderful sense of humor, and his laugh was contagious. He especially loved playing with his canine "nieces and nephews", Max, MinMin, Mattie, and Pongo when he would come back home to Lenoir to visit.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11th in the chapel at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home and Crematory. Pastor Steve Walsh of Miller Hill Baptist Church will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Robin's Nest Children's Advocacy Center at 1051 Harper Avenue, Lenoir, N.C. 28645. You may view the online obituary and offer condolences at www.pendryfuneralhome.com
