Obituary

Ermin "Hank" Olivieri, 86, of Surf City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Tallwoods Care Center in Bayville. Hank was born and raised in Newark March 28, 1927. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II aboard the USS Jerald in the south Pacific. When he returned he made Belleville his home and raised a beautiful family. As a proud member of the Belleville Police Department, he served as a Motorcycle Patrolman, Detective, and retired at the honorable rank of Deputy Chief. Ermin "Hank" Olivieri, 86, of Surf City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Tallwoods Care Center in Bayville. Hank was born and raised in Newark March 28, 1927. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II aboard the USS Jerald in the south Pacific. When he returned he made Belleville his home and raised a beautiful family. As a proud member of the Belleville Police Department, he served as a Motorcycle Patrolman, Detective, and retired at the honorable rank of Deputy Chief. He moved to Surf City in 1990 to enjoy his retirement after 32 years of dedicated service. During his retirement he became a member of the VFW Post 10092 in Barnegat. He volunteered his time as a Docent on the Intrepid Sea and Space Museum in NYC, and was proud to give tours with his grandsons. He enjoyed attending Navy reunions, maintaining his antique Model A Ford, being a judge at antique car shows and participating in local parades. Another enjoyment was vacationing in St. Maarten with family and friends. Spending time with his cherished family is what meant the most to Hank.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Linda Mattia in 1990. Surviving is his loving wife of 64 years Ann (Marinaro) Olivieri, his loving children Michael and wife Laura Olivieri of Pine Beach, Judy Olivieri and Cheri Howard of Belleville; 6 grandchildren Gina, Sal, Cristy, Philip, Michael and Desiree; 5 great grandchildren Olivia, Tommy, Ava, Natalia and Gunnar; and other loved family in the United States and in Italy.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Nov. 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Toms River. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ocean of Love for Children with Cancer, 1709 Route 37 East, Toms River, NJ 08753 in Hank's memory.
