Surrounded by her loving family, Erna Alma Stahnke Siewert, 95, went on to feast at God's banquet table He prepared for her with his own hands, on February 8, 2013. A Service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. with Pastor Kieschnick officiating, with graveside services following at Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during visitation scheduled from 4:00-6:00 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, on 5701 HWY 277 S. Surrounded by her loving family, Erna Alma Stahnke Siewert, 95, went on to feast at God's banquet table He prepared for her with his own hands, on February 8, 2013. Grandma was born April 23, 1917 in Priddy, Texas to Ben Carl Stahnke and Carrie Limmer Stahnke. She was confirmed by the Rev. Scaer at Priddy Lutheran Church in 1931. The family moved to Wilson, where later on she met Arthur Louis Siewert, on Christmas Eve at a Lutheran church dance. They married less than a year later on October 16, 1935. They moved to Abilene during Christmas in 1936.

Erna retired from Sears Department Store from the position of Division Manager and salesperson. Her true joy, aside from baking, playing 84, family, friends, her beloved waltzes, fishing and sewing, was her church, Zion Lutheran, where she was a member for 77 years. Erna loved singing in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a Joy Club member, Lutheran Women Missionary League member and was Superintendent of Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin, Erma Alna Stahnke Lerche and younger sister, Mildred Marie Stahnke; her husband, Arthur Siewert and three sons, Lawrence Wayne Siewert, Arthur Ellsworth Siewert and Roland Dale Siewert.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Susan and Steve Waller, Julia Siewert, Jill and Rex Fields and Tom Siewert. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Andrew Waller, David Waller, Katie Waller, Nicholas Galbraith, Molly and Tim Smith, Jackson Hanna, Emory Hanna, Rebekah Marshall and husband Ryan, Abigail Fields, Channing Siewert and great great grandson, Peyton Marshall. Other family survivors include daughter-in-law, Sharon Hooks Siewert Knaus and brothers and sisters-in-law, Kit and Ann Siewert, Alvin Siewert and Elsie Siewert and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Tom Siewert, Nicholas Galbraith, Andrew Waller, David Waller, Jackson Hanna, and Tim Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lloyd Swiedom , Danny Schill, John Glenewinkel, John Fred Phillips, Ronnie Sommerfeld, David Kirkland, Wayne Lanham, Jon McAden, and Odis Claxton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Zion Lutheran Music Ministry or your favorite charity.
