Ernie was born August 18, 1922 in Ridgeland, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Samuel and Sara Janie Adcock, son David Adcock, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean Maxwell Adcock; son, Michael Adcock (Betsy); sister, Jack Robinson; four grandchildren, Mia Allen, Sam Adcock, Adam Adcock, and Max Adcock; and three great-grandchildren.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and was a gunner on a B24 Liberator. He was shot down over France and taken prisoner by the Germans in 1944. On May 5, 1945, he was liberated by the British Army.

Ernie owned Adcock and Campbell, Inc., an asphalt paving company from 1964-1989. He and Jean built their new home in Ridgeland in 1978 which is now the Parker House Restaurant.

Ernie was a past President of the MS Asphalt Pavement Association and served on the Board of Directors of Holmes Community College for 14 years. The library on the Ridgeland campus was named in his honor. He also served as Secretary/Treasurer for the MS Chapter Eighth Air Force Historical Society. Ernie had been living at the Waterford in Ridgeland for the past few years where he made many good friends. He and his wife, Jean, loved to travel and had been fortunate enough to see most of the world.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital.

"I am so very sorry to hear about Mr. Adcock. I know God will be with his family during this time." Pamela Sandifer (Ridgeland, MS)
