Ernest John Eder (Ernie) passed away peacefully on January 5, 2013, at the age of 86 - Ausgespielt.

Dad was born in Burien, the son of German immigrants John and Mary Eder. Ernie ultimately became the 5th generation of metal fabricators, filling his father's shoes at The Hi-Line Tin Shop but not before he took a two year break, joined the Navy at 18, and saw the world. After the Navy he continued his apprenticeship with his dad, honing his skills to become a master sheet metal craftsman. Ernie was very proud of his trade.

At 44 Ernie married his best friend and love of his life, Phyllis. Together they ran the business, built a life with many wonderful friends, and a home with a beautiful garden. They were inseparable in work and in play.

A fixture in the Burien business community for over 70 years, The Hi-Line Tin Shop was the oldest family owned business until Ernie and Phyllis retired, and in it's place Dan House created the now well known Tin Room Bar & Grill including many mementos from the old Tin Shop. Sadly, Phyllis died in 2005, shortly after the Tin Room opened.

Ernie will be remembered for his straight talk, love of martini's and cigarettes, cruising in his old Ford pickup truck, but most importantly his love for Phyllis and great sense of humor. He was a character in the best sense of the word and with Ernie, there was never any doubt where you stood.

Ach du lieber - we will miss him.

He was preceded in death by son Ernest Eder and leaves behind his son John Eder (Kay) and daughters Theresa Smith (Steve), Brenda Tumelson (Jim), Lynda Braunstein (Bob), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Ernie's life will be held at the Tin Room on Saturday, January 26th starting at 2:00 p.m.
