Ervin A. Gilliland, age 89, of Connelly Springs, NC, passed away at his residence on Monday, May 20, 2013. Mr. Gilliland was born on March 8, 1924 to the late Mr. Augustus Gilliland and Mrs. Rosa Lee Gibson Kelly. He was an avid outdoors man who loved fishing and hunting.
Mr. Gilliland is survived by his wife Jewel Gilliland of the home, sons Donald Gilliland of Dysartsville, NC, Larry Gilliland and wife Diane of Dysartsville,NC, Steve "Hollywood" Gilliland of Dysartsville,NC, Woodrow Gilliland of Spruce Pine, NC, and Ricky and Sammy Gilliland of Connelly Springs, NC. He was preceded in death by two sons, Pat Gilliland and David Gilliland.
He is survived by daughters Denise Goodman and husband Jerry of Swannanoa, NC, Darlene Burleson and husband Clinton of Old Fort, NC, Peanut Dillingham and husband Robert of Dysartsville, NC, Goldie Daubach and husband Rick of Winder, GA, and Mary Brewer and husband Bill of Statesville, NC.
Mr. Gilliland is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Gilliland will be conducted on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 1:00 PM at McCall Kirksey Chapel, Marion, NC with the Revs. Charles Tripp and Wayne Randolph officiating. Visitation will be at McCall Kirksey Chapel in Marion, NC on Wednesday evening, May 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Burial will follow the funeral services on Thursday at Bethlehem Community Cemetery, Old Fort, NC.
