Estella (Gerber) Olivier was born in Fowler, Kansas in 1922. God called her home at the age of 94 to join her husband, Justin, her parents, and her loved ones in heaven. She died peacefully with her family by her side. Her parents were Leo J. Gerber and Katherine (Hoffman) Gerber. She was the 5th child of a family of 12 children, and grew up on a farm. When she was 16 she moved to Danville, KS with her family.
She graduated from Harper High School In 1940, then married the love of her life, Justin Olivier, in 1942. They settled in Wichita, KS and lived in various other places when Justin was drafted into the Army Air Corps. They raised 7 children. She volunteered at St. Anne's in the Altar Society and the PTA. After her youngest child started school, she was hired by Walkers of Wichita, an upscale clothing store. She was proud to finally receive her own paycheck. While living in Wichita, she and Justin traveled all around the US. Her children were included in all the vacations.
In 1969, Justin and Estella agreed to a job transfer with Boeing to live and work in Everett, WA. She initially worked at J. C. Penney's and was soon hired by John Fluke Manufacturing Co. She eventually retired in 1981. She had been active in the Altar Society at Immaculate Conception Church in Everett. She and Justin enjoyed square dancing with the Whirlybirds Square Dance Club as well as going on many camping trips around the country, first in their camper and then in a trailer. Justin passed away in 1988. She then moved to So. Everett, joined St. Mary Magdalen Church and became active with their Funeral Committee, Share and Care and Leisure Timers.
Estella was a loving Mother, and her children, grandchildren, and siblings were the highlight of her life. She attended all of her family reunions. She will always be remembered for her outstanding homemaking skills, as a seamstress, a quilter, and a cook. She was making a quilt for each of her children. She could rival any restaurant with her fried chicken dinners, her homemade pies, cookies and cinnamon rolls that will be greatly missed at the holidays. One of her greatest qualities was her ability to offer help before you had the chance to ask for it.
She is survived by her children: Rosalie Wahlstrom (Bob), Tom Olivier (Margaret), Elizabeth Olivier, Janet Olivier (Charlotte), Arlene Hicks (Ron), Marian Webber (John), and Connie Olivier; her sisters: Irene, Esther, and Joan; her brother: Dan; her grandchildren: Tom, Angelise; Christi, Philip; Erin, Rachel; Hannah, Matthew; and great grandchildren: Jasmine, Sydney, Nate and Joshua. Preceding her in death were her parents, Leo and Katherine; siblings: Clem, Leona, Arthur, Catherine, Leo Jr., Pauline, and Gerald.
