Esther May Hanson, 94, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to everyone she met.

Esther was born on March 5, 1921 in Olathe, Kansas to George Willard and Frieda Sophia (Piepgras) Algire. She attended and graduated from Olathe High School in 1939. She married the love of her life Marion Herschel Hanson on August 3, 1940 in Olathe, Kansas. Through this union they were blessed with four children: Garry, Daniel, Carolyn and Marilyn.
Esther worked as a case worker for the SRS /state of Kansas. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Some of her favorite things to do were gardening, cooking, playing games with her grandchildren, and collecting pink hobnail glassware Her and her husband were dedicated members of Olathe Christian Church, where she also served as the 3rd grade Sunday School teacher, and later were founding members of Olathe Bible Church in Olathe Kansas.

Esther is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Marion Hanson, parents George and Frieda Algire, three sisters, Mary Byram, Linna McCully, Alice Grace Davis, and grandson Brent Hanson.
She is survived by her four children: Garry Hanson and his wife Lyn of Estes Park, Colorado; Daniel Hanson and his wife Carolyn of Olathe, Kansas; Carolyn Crable and her husband Scott of Inman, Kansas; and Marilyn Page and her husband Jason of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her eight grandchildren: Stacy Holloran (Kevin N.), Melissa Holder (Lucas), Stephanie Fischer-Keelin (Daniel), Brenda Hanson, Heather Mead (Oren), Bonnie Cheesman (Tyler), Brad Page and Tiffany Spoor (Stephen). She will be sadly missed by her ten great grandchildren: Sierra Martinez, Sage Martinez, Madisson Page, Ashlyn Page, Krista Spoor, Kadence Spoor, Krayton Spoor, Avery Mead, Wade Cheesman, and William Cheesman,

Funeral services will be 10:30a.m. Monday, February 1st at Olathe Bible Church 13700 W. 151st St. Olathe, Kansas. Interment in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Visitation will be 10:00-10:30a.m. Monday morning at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Brookdale Hospice 12000 Lamar Ave. Overland Park, Kansas 66209.
