Estrelita "Lita" Pangilinan Strickland was born on Octobor 28, 1946 in San Fernando, Philippines to Eladio and Juliana (Pangilinan) Deang. She passed away peacefully on June 16, 2013, at the age of 66, surrounded by her loved ones.
Lita worked at Tinker AFB as a cook for 30 years and was passionate about her job. She received many letters and certificates of appreciation for her outstanding work ethic and dedication to her job, as well as being featured many times in the Tinker Take Off. She loved her family very much and loved cooking for them as well. Some of her hobbies included playing bingo and mahjong and feeding the squirrels in her back yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vergie Smith; and brother, Boy Deang. She is survived by her husband, Ritchie Strickland; son, Ronald Thompson and wife Kathryn; son, David Thompson and wife Billie; grandchildren, Michael, Darian, Blake, Asher, Riley, and Brody; sister, May Dodson; and brother, Paping Deang.
A come-and-go reception celebrating Lita's life will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at her home located at 4101 SE 12th Street, Del City.
