Ethelyn Early went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 10th 2016. Ethelyn spent 95 wonderful years giving of herself unselfishly so others would be blessed.
Ethelyn Blosser (Simmers) Early was born in Hinton, Virginia to Fredrick and Catherine Blosser. She went to Hinton High School in Hinton Virginia. Ethelyn was married to Ira Simmers on October 29th 1938 in Hagerstown, Maryland. God blessed them with two children, a son, Ira Franklin Simmers and a daughter, Clara (Simmers) Beilke. Ethelyn was married to Ira for 29 years until his death in 1968.
Ethelyn was reintroduced to Staff Sargent Herbert Early Jr. in 1969. They were married on November 10th 1969 where Herb was stationed at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, Arizona. They moved to Luke AFB in Goodyear, Arizona where they retired. Ethelyn was married to Herb for 34 years until his death in 2003.
Ethelyn was preceded in death by her first husband Ira Sr. and their four hour old son Ira Jr., second husband Herb and one brother, Fredrick Blosser, granddaughter, Teresa Koontz and grandson, W.A. Koontz.
She is survived by her daughter Clara Beilke of Phoenix, Arizona and step son Jim Early of Washington. Ethelyn has two grandchildren, Marie Drinkhouse (Bob), of Phoenix, Arizona and Charlie Koontz (Lori) of Cottonwood, Arizona, 5 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Ethelyn enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, sewing, camping, and cooking.
She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona. A memorial celebrating her life was held on November 18th, officiated by Pastor Terry Randolph. Graveside services were held at Dayton Cemetery on Monday, November 21st at 10:00 am, officiated by Pastor Kevin Daggett. Her final resting place is Dayton, Virginia.
Ethelyn was able to live independently with her beloved Boston Terrier Ralphy until the last three weeks of her life, which is exactly the way she wanted it.
