Eugene H. Bedford 86, of Shell Lake, WI passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at home with his wife of 65 years at his side.
Gene was born November 17, 1927 in Spooner, WI to Al and Anna Bedford.
He was very proud of being a WWII Veteran. Gene changed his birth certificate 2 times to enlist in the Army; he managed to get to Germany before this was discovered. After his honorable discharge he returned to Spooner and worked at various jobs. Eugene finally found his niche at American Brass in Kenosha, WI. Gene retired after 30 years and returned to the area, first to Rice Lake and then to Shell Lake to enjoy his grandchildren and their sporting events, fishing, hunting, and Packer games.
Gene married Bernadean Sauleen October 2, 1948; she survives him along with their son Steve (Linda) and his three grandchildren Brian, Sara, Jennifer, one brother John and special friend Mark Kriederman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers David and Mel, sisters Wilma, Lois, Mabel, Shirley and Maxine.
Pall Bearers: Steve Bedford, Adam Sauleen, Scott Gascoigne, Jason Williams, Lance Schneider.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Dahl Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Berkesch officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Military rites will be conducted by the Wisconsin Funeral Honors Program.

You are all are in our thoughts and prayers. Gene was one of the nicest, sweetest people I know. I was always in awe of him as a child and as a grown-up, too. He had a way about him that made you feel comfortable and important. It was always a pleasure to see him and Bernie and he will be missed.

Uncle Gene ... could tell a story like no other ... and you could not help but laugh when he spoke... A Very Special Uncle to many for sure... Always made you feel welcome when you came for a visit... I enjoyed staying with him and Aunt Bernie, we went antiquing NOW you think that was not fun... OH YEAH!!! it sure was... He said every time I moved along I loved something else haha lol ? I so remember how My Mom loved each and every one of her siblings and How U. Gene Missed his mother that died so tragically ... My Mother was the oldest & she reminded him of Gramma ... I am sure my mother had as much love to give as she helped raise all of her siblings (9) total ... I could go on and on ... one time when I visited we talked about the Bible ....HE BROUGHT IT UP PRAISE GOD!!! R.I.P, Uncle Gene AKA Ole Hank Williams ?
