Eugene L. (Gene) Ferguson, 85, of Vero Beach died Sunday, Jan. 27 at The Arbors at the Lakes of Pointe West, Vero Beach. A native of Wichita, Kansas, Gene came to Vero Beach in 1992 from Stony Brook, L.I., NY.
A member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Vero Beach, Gene had served on the HOA Board in Heron Cay and also enjoyed square dancing with the Heron Cay Twirlers. He was a veteran of WW II and Korea having served in the US Navy. He had spent many years in Management with the W.T. Grant Company and Southampton Lumber on Long Island.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Helen; daughter: Patti (Bernie) Vining of Laguna Beach, CA; sons: Jim (Sherry) Ferguson of Santa Rosa, CA, Bill Ferguson of Parker, CO; stepdaughter: Vicki (Greg) Zion of Brandon, MS; stepsons: Jeff (Karen) Russell of Fresno, CA, Brad Russell of Merrimack, NH; brother: Ernie (Vivian) Ferguson of Jasper, GA; and twelve grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother: William Ferguson and sister: Marion Smith.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. There will be no services and inurnment will be at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay, FL.

I am glad to have known Gene since 1996 when my wife and I moved to Vero Beach and Heron Cay. He and his dear wife Helen were so generous in helping us to get to know people in the park and getting settled. I will miss you and the times we spent together. My prayers will always be with you.
