TARASIUK, Eugene (Yevhen)

Passed away, suddenly, on July 2, 2014 in his 91st year. Devoted husband for 69 years to his loving wife, Mary. Loving father of Natalie (William) Korsh, Nina (Oleh) Onufryk, Lydia Tarasiuk and Mary (Ivan) Bobko. Pre-deceased by daughter Helena (Alex) Lawryniuk. Beloved grandfather of Nina (Roger), Greg (Christy), Peter, Andrew, Stephen (Janelle), Andriana (Jamie), Eugene (Nicole), Kalyna and Eugenia (Josh). Cherished great-grandfather of Sofia, Alex and Abigail. Affectionately remembered by his sister Halya and family in Ukraine. He will be missed by numerous family and friends.

Born in Voldymyr, Ukraine, Eugene and Mary emigrated to Sudbury in 1952, where they became active members in the Ukrainian community and parishioners of St. George's Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Eugene worked as a millwright at INCO. They moved to St. Catharines in 1964 where he continued to work as a millwright at General Motors until his retirement at the age of 65. Committed to his faith, he was always an active member of the church and community in which he lived. He will be endearingly remembered for his outgoing personality, his positive outlook on life, his passion for singing, his humour, and his love for his family. Thank you to Dr. O. Waler for his care and compassion. Thanks to CCAC Case Manager Elaine and Paramed support workers; Chris, Ziggy, Mitch, and Holly for your wonderful care, support and humour.
