Eugenia D. "Gean" Kukar, 96, began her next journey September 12, 2017. She was born March 28, 1921. Gean was a member of First United Methodist Church and a long time bookkeeper for Southland Furniture. She loved to travel, and taking advantage of husband Cletus's employment at Braniff Airlines was able to see much of the United States and Europe. Her favorite travel destination was visiting the Islands of Hawaii. Playing bridge, attending the Symphony, and crosswords were some of her favorite pastimes and she loved nothing more than to be out in the yard pulling weeds, a sight well known to many.
She is survived by one daughter, Jane Kenderdine and husband Stewart of Palestine, TX; one son, John Kukar of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Emily and husband Collin Hadley and Marshall Kenderdine; two great grandchildren, Madeline and Connor Hadley; niece, Mandy Waltz; great nieces, Cindy Kenna, Cathy Smith; and great nephew, Ronnie Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus Kukar; sisters, Letus Smith, Pauline Dawson, and Cleone Kelly; nieces, Fran James, Wanda Lucy; nephews, John R. Smith, Ron Smith, Jackie Dawson; and special friend Jim Hanks.
Memorial service will be Friday, September 15, 2017 at 3:30 PM in the Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Private burial at U.S. National Cemetery at a later date.
