EUGENIE "BOODIE" LYONS FRANSEN passed into the next life on January 10, 2013, age 73, surrounded by her family, to the strains of Mexico Lindo. At the time of death, a glorious sunset emerged from a gloomy sky to welcome her home.
Boodie was preceded in death by her parents, Elena Ortiz-Monasterio Lyons and Dr. Alfred Bertot, and her siblings, Nina and Ileana. Boodie is survived by her husband of 48 years, A. Remy Fransen, her four children, Remi F. Ottelin (Scott), Christopher J. Fransen, Rebecca F. Worley (Knight), and Matthew R. Fransen and his wife Keflyn. Boodie was the perfect wife, mother, and loving grandmother to seven children, Caroline and Douglas Otelin, Olivia, Grayson and Eugenie Worley, and Jack and Will Fransen.
She was the heart of her family, and now graces heaven. Boodie was a staunch fan of the Saints, and a devoted subway alumna of the University of Notre Dame, and was a graduate of Mercy Academy in New Orleans.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Boodie's life at Holy Name of Jesus Church on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Visitation at church from 12-1:00, with Mass at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Father Douglas Brougher.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome contributions to the Adolph Fransen Scholarship Fund at the University of Notre Dame, Dept. of Development, 1251 N. Eddy Street, Suite 300, South Bend, IN 46617-1403. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be signed online at www.tharpsontheimer.com. Information 835-2341.
