Mrs. Eupearl Cunningham Stone, 82, of Fuquay-Varina, NC, passed away on February 21, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Dementia.

Eupearl was born April 9, 1930, in Zebulon, NC. She was the youngest of six children born to the late Edwin and Essie Sherron Cunningham. Eupearl graduated from Wakelon High School in 1948 and lived in Raleigh and Cary for most of her adult life before moving to Windsor Point Retirement Center. She married Paul Stone in October 1954.

In addition to her parents, Eupearl was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Reginald, and J. W. (Pete) Cunningham of Zebulon and a sister, Juliette Lee of Raleigh.

Eupearl is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Paul S. Stone; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Richard Rosen of Cary and Sheila and David Abercrombie of Apex; grandson, Scott Rosen of Cary; sister, Ethel Marie Wall of Salisbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eupearl worked in the agency department at Occidental Life Insurance Company in Raleigh from 1949 to 1960, and in the bond department at US Fidelity & Guaranty Company from 1970 to 1987.

She was a long-time member of St. John's Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Secretary and was involved in many other church activities. She has been a member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church for the past five years. Eupearl was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed walking, reading the newspaper, cooking, playing cards-especially canasta, attending NC State sports events, and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Hayes Barton Baptist Church, 1800 Glenwood Avenue (Five Points), Raleigh, with Dr. David Hailey, pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be immediately after the funeral at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh.

Memorials may be made to the Hayes Barton Baptist Church Television Ministry, 1800 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27608, or to Alzheimers North Carolina, Inc., 1305 Navaho Dr. Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27609.

I met Eupearl at USF&G where we both worked. After that we would see one another at NCSU Basketball games (at Reynolds) and football games and catch up on the latest news in our lives. She was such a nice and caring lady. My sympathy to all her family.
