Eva Licerio Hewlett, 82, joined her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 8, 2018. She was a native of Victoria and born to the late Julian R. Licerio and Inez R. Licerio of Placedo on July 25, 1935. In her passing she will be reunited with her husband, Donald G. Hewlett, the love of her life; her sisters, Belia Sandoval, Irene Bernal, Esther Trevino, Tommie Delgado; her brother, Angel Licerio and grandson, Julian A. Gutierrez.
Her memory and spirit will live on through her surviving six children: her sons, Juan Gutierrez (Diane) and Ben Garza; daughters, Rose M. Garcia and Belinda Ramirez of Victoria, Gloria Jewell (Clint) of Houston, and Hortensia Gutierrez, (Domingo) of Pasadena; her surviving siblings, Raymond Licerio and Aurelia Sanchez, both of Galveston, Lupe Galvan of Victoria and Julian Licerio of League City. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
She will always be remembered as a loving mother and nurturer. Her great strength and compassion was instilled in her children for always keeping her family together, and we will use this strength to stay united in this time of great loss. Her love and laughter will be greatly missed, but will remain unforgettable. With all her endless attributes, she was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, The Guadalupanas, and Sacred Heart, she volunteered with the Crisis Pregnancy Center, Hospital Ministry and prayed the funeral Rosaries any time she was needed without hesitation.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 am Friday, January 12, 2018 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joe Ramirez, Adam Salgado, Rudy Garcia, Jesse Garcia, Domingo Bazan and Jeremy Garza
