Eva Elizabeth McGarity Ponder entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 10 after battling Triple Negative Breast Cancer for the past 7 ½ years. She was born on October 10, 1969 in Decatur, Georgia and resided in Lawrenceville at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Stephen Ponder, and her dear son, Erik Ponder, both of whom she loved so dearly. She is also survived by her loving parents, Dr. and Mrs. James (Willa) McGarity; her dear sister Catherine Anne McGarity Harris (Hunter); her supportive father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Pat Ponder; her uncle, George A. Morford,; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Christopher and Allison Ponder, and numerous cousins and friends. She was the granddaughter of Robert and Jessie McGarity, and Thomas and Betty Morford all of whom predeceased her.
Eva was a graduate of St. Pius X High School and received her undergraduate degree in Middle Grades Education from Piedmont College. Her professional career included teaching positions at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parochial School, and Sophia Academy, and prior to her education career she was a drafting Associate with Day-Wilburn Engineering.
Eva was very devout Roman Catholic who, through her faith, was committed to offering up her suffering for the benefit of others. She was an outstanding individual who was always concerned about others and how she could impact them through her personal example. She will be greatly missed by so many who cherished her.
