Evans Alexander Hanson, 35, of Houston, TX, died on November 21st, 2013 in Dongducheon, South Korea. He was born, April 8th, 1978, to David Andrew Hanson and Anne Lytle Parker. Evans graduated from Lamar High School in 1996, received a BA in International Relations and Economics from the University of Southern California in 2000, an MA in Public Policy from Georgetown University in 2009, and an MA in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in 2012. Evans Alexander Hanson, 35, of Houston, TX, died on November 21st, 2013 in Dongducheon, South Korea.

He was born, April 8th, 1978, to David Andrew Hanson and Anne Lytle Parker. Evans graduated from Lamar High School in 1996, received a BA in International Relations and Economics from the University of Southern California in 2000, an MA in Public Policy from Georgetown University in 2009, and an MA in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in 2012. He married Jamie Lynn Pursel from Yerington, NV, in 2001, and they lived together wherever the Army sent them before relocating to South Korea in 2012. Evans was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Field Artillery in 2000, and earned the rank of Major in 2010. Major Hanson served two combat tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, earning the bronze star medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.

Major Hanson is survived by his wife, Jamie Lynn Hanson, his daughters, Janice Elena (10) and Alexandria Marie (7), his father, David, his mother, Anne, and many, many friends.

Services will be held at Crawford-Bowers Chapel, Killeen, TX, on Thursday, December 5th, at 1pm CST. Visitation will be at the same location on Wednesday, December 4th, from 6-8pm. A celebration of Evans' life will follow - details will be announced at the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fisher House (www.fisherhouse.org) or the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
