Evelyn Edwards Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2018.

Evelyn Joyce Edwards returned to her Heavenly home on Sunday, January 7, 2018 surrounded by her family, she was 85 years young. Her devotion to her family and her firm unwavering belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Evelyn, affectionately known as "Nanny" by her great grand and grandchildren was born to the late Lulu Pearl and William Earl Miller in Chester, PA on July 12, 1932. She was swept off her feet by her "honey", Ludwell Henry Edwards "Junior", when she was 15 years old and they married two years later, spending 68 memorable years together. In that time, they were blessed with three children and Evelyn set about teaching them compassion, hard work and above all, a love for our Lord.
Junior and Evelyn eventually made a warm and welcoming home in Jessup, MD and later in Selbyville, DE where most of the time could find her endulging in yard work, sitting by the pool, having coffee on the back porch enjoying the sun and watching the boats go by, watching a game show with her sweetie or even baking in the middle of the night. Evelyn was a woman who stood strong in her faith and loved nothing more than to sing praises to His name. She was a member of the Friendship Methodist Church in Berlin, MD.
She is survived by her loving husband Ludwell Henry Edwards, Jr., son Terry R. Edwards and his fiancé Glenda, daughter Deborah Dewalt and her husband Sandy and the late Dennis Edwards. Sister of the late Ethel Hetzel, Esther Miller, Margaret Miller, Edith King, Robert Broyles, William, Elwood and Sonny Miller. She is also survived by her Grandchildren, Nicole Andersen, Jessica Thacker, Brent Edwards, Lindsay Hawkins, Jamie Barron, and their spouses as well as Matthew and Jennifer Edwards and Wyatt Chatham; 10 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that all adored her.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD 21075 ( exit 6 off Rt. 100 south) on Wednesday from 3 :00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm where a Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:00 am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Friendship United Methodist Church, 10537 Friendship Road, Berlin, MD 21811. www.garylkaufmanfuneralhome.com

Junior and family,
We know you are heartbroken and will miss Evelyn so very much. We too are sad that she is no longer with us. Be comforted that she rests in the arms of Jesus and there is rejoicing in heaven. As a Christian believe that one day we will again see our loved ones in heaven. Praise God!! So carry on.......Paula and Ken Gage
