Evelyn was the only child born to John and Angelina Repka, at their home, in Wallis, Texas on August 3, 1925. As a young girl, she would look north to Houston and think to herself, someday I will live there. And she did! She graduated from Reagan High School, and later married her husband of 70 years, Gene Griffin. She lovingly rasied two daughters, Sharron "Pinkie" and Shana. Her favorite job was that of a stay at home mother to her girls. She loved all animals (except snakes and roaches,) and had a miraculous green thumb. She was especially successful in raising her beautiful roses. She could stick a twig in the ground, and the plant would grow and flourish as if its sole purpose was to greet the sun and please Evelyn with its leaves and flowers. In her parents' later years, Evelyn was caretaker to her mother, and then her father - taking him into their home. Later, as Gene's health declined, she became his undaunted caretaker. She was patient, shy, silly, beautiful, and always smelled divine. She leaves behind her daughters, Pinkie and husband Dave Strom, Shana K. Griffin, and her precious cat, Bibinka. The family sincerely thanks all the caretakers and friends who prayed for and helped mother, and us, in her last years. Mommie, we release you unto the loving and welcoming grace to our Lord God. We love you forever. The family will receive friends from 5-8PM on Thursday, January 29, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 10AM on Friday, January 30, 2015. Both Services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to Houston SPCA or the charity of your choice.

I am so sorry for your loss of such a sweet, caring, funny and loving woman. I was her dental hygienist at Dr. Carey's office for 14 years. I absolutely loved seeing and getting to know her. She will be dearly missed. She had such a funny sense of humor. I will be praying for your family for healing and peace. I will miss her because I always looked forward to seeing her again.
Sincerely,
Gina Gilmore

She and Gene were always so kind and welcoming when I came to visit. What a wonderfully beautiful person; like her garden, she was glorious and radiant. My thoughts and heart go out to Shana and Pinkie. May you both find peace and surround yourselves with love during this difficult time.

Shana and Pinkie I always thought your mother was so sweet and I always enjoyed talking to her the few times that I did. The first time was when you guys lived off od Dodson and had the big black Standadard Poodles. You and Pinkie are such good people so you must have had good parents. My thoughts are with you.
