Evelyn M. Dean, 95 died peacfully Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her home on Elk Lake. A native of Traverse City, she had lived in the Elk Rapids/Williamsburg area for 74 years. The daughter of Edward & Eva (Robertson) Broadway, she was born on May 28, 1916 in Traverse City. On September 6, 1932, she married Everett E. Dean who preceded her in death on May 17, 1993. They operated a cherry and dairy farm for many years until retirement, and were foster parents for forty years, having cared for 73 children through child and family services. Evelyn M. Dean, 95 died peacfully Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her home on Elk Lake. A native of Traverse City, she had lived in the Elk Rapids/Williamsburg area for 74 years. The daughter of Edward & Eva (Robertson) Broadway, she was born on May 28, 1916 in Traverse City. On September 6, 1932, she married Everett E. Dean who preceded her in death on May 17, 1993. Mrs. Dean is survived by two sons, James (Susan) Dean of Williamsburg and Dennis (Barbara) Dean of Williamsburg; six daughters, Joan (Frank) Hartman of Pauma Valley, CA, Marilyn Burfiend of Williamsburg, Joyce (Jerry) Esling of Lombard, IL, Ellen Leone (John) Ostlund of Williamsburg, Colleen Dean of Kingsley, Jennifer (Robert) Miller of Williamsburg; 25 grandchilren, 33 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren (Wow!) and a special foster daughter Shelly (Mark) Poley of Williamsburg. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Deborah Dean and infant Barbara Dean; a grandson, Franz Dean; three brothers, Elmer Broadway, Clifford Broadway and Jess Broadway and one sister, Joyce (Robert) Bauer. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City, 232 East State Street. Family will recieve friends Sunday 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
