Merrick, age 80 passed away on Thursday, February 9th at her residence in the town of Potsdam while under the care of her family and the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Evelyn is survived by her children Gordon (Cheryl) Merrick, Randy (Cheryl) Merrick, Bonnie (Jimmy) Ling, Joan (Mark) Rasmussen, Marianne Richards, Billy (Gena) Merrick, Tammy (Sonny) Perrin; her son in law Scott Ramsey; her brothers Clarence (Ethel) Russell Jr; Richard (Linda) Russell; her sisters Shirley Smith; Marion (Ross) Martin ; Virginia (Richard) Daby; Rosie (Carl) Randall; Donna (John) Wieser; Ellen (Maylin) Beach; Judy (Bob Devon) Russell; 26 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her first husband Gordon Merrick; her second husband Burton Merrick; a son Jerry Merrick; a daughter Sandy Ramsey and her brother Lawrence Russell.
Evelyn E. Merrick was born March 7, 1931 in North Lawrence, New York to the late Clarence and Marion Beamis Russell. She attended Lawrenceville Academy. Evelyn did home care and babysitting for many people over the years. She enjoyed knitting especially for her grandchildren she also enjoyed spending time at camp and having family barbeques. She was a leader for both boy/girl scouts of America. She taught church school at St. John's Catholic Church in Madrid for many years.
