Evelyn Claire Sweat, 18, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Spring, TX on August 2, 2017. Evelyn was born on March 6, 1999 in Houston, TX. She was a graduate of Klein Collins High School, and accepted as an undergrad student at Austin College in Sherman, TX with an admirable scholarship package. Evelyn was a beloved daughter, a cherished sister, a dedicated student, and a best friend to many. An advocate for the LGBT community, she started and led the LGBT Alliance group in her high school, creating a space where students could find acceptance and support when tackling the issues of their sexuality, and volunteered for the Houston Pride Parade. She was a responsible and cheerful employee at Vero Italian Kitchen in Spring, appreciated by both fellow team members and regular customers alike. Evelyn loved spending time with her family and friends, ice skating, the beach, and playing both board and computer games. She was an avid reader, and even started her own YouTube channel just weeks before she passed. Her unfettered faith in the love of Spirit required no religious trappings. Evelyn is survived by her parents, Nathan and Anna Sweat, her siblings, Zoey and Benjamin Sweat, her grandmother, Donna Sweat, her grandfather, Bill Silvernail, her great aunts, Judy and Kathryn Priest, her aunts Tamra Ocel & Nicole Sweat, her uncle Brandon Sweat, and many cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Ruth French Johnson and her grandfather Timothy Sweat. She was a light and a joy, loved by all who knew her; and she will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Memorial service and reception to follow will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday, August 19 at 3:00 pm located at 13001 Katy Frwy, Houston, TX 77079.

The bestest friend you could ever have. Always there to lend a hand, to lift your spirits- always full of joy. She was so funny I don't remember a time where I wasn't laughing with her. Fearless, brilliant, loving and kind is mierly a hint of the unconditional compassion she carried with her everyday. It was an honor to play, create and preform music side be side with such an amazing soul. Forever in my prayers. In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

I want to send my sympathies and say my heart goes out to you all. Wish there were words I could give to ease your pain but there are situations in life where that is simply not possible. Know you are in my prayers. I ask him to give you a peace that is unsurpassed to ease your loss and make the unbearable bearable. The lost aunt.
