Evelyn C. Wilson passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014, at the age of 88 years. Evelyn was born on May 1, 1925, to an Irish-Norwegian couple - Michael Kenny and Minnie Paterson. She was named Mary Evelyn Kenny, but later dropped the name Mary and stuck with Evelyn. Mary became her middle name. Evelyn was one of four children – two brothers and one sister; Michael, Henny and Anna, all of whom predeceased her. As a child, Evelyn attended Visitation Parochial school in Brooklyn, New York and graduated in 1940. Evelyn married Peter Crane in 1945 and they had two children, Michael and Carol. When Peter's job took him across the country to California, the family settled in Lakewood. Peter worked for the Department of the Navy and eventually retired. During this time, Evelyn's children married and started having children. Evelyn and Peter grew apart and eventually divorced. Peter passed away from a sudden illness also during this time. Evelyn continued to work and found her niche working for Coastline Metal Finishing Corp. Evelyn met Gary M. Wilson during this time and, after a long courtship, they married. Gary was the love of her life and he took care of Evelyn like she was his princess. Gary, whom everyone called Mike, recently passed away in October 2013. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather to Evelyn and her family. Evelyn dearly missed him, but she tried to be strong and continue on. Evelyn continued to work even up to just a month or so before she passed away. Evelyn loved her job and the people she worked with. She was sharp as a whip even at 88. She never felt old, just a person, she said, not old, not young. She was amazing. Evelyn and Gary were married for 29 years. Evelyn is survived by her two children Michael Crane and Carol Ann Santoro; daughter-in-law Lenora and son-in-law Jim; six grandchildren, David, Steven, Kristina, Jeffery, Matthew and Alisa; and eleven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Anthony, Breana, Sophia, Dylan, Michael, Thomas, Steven, Jr.; Noah, Willow and Dublin. Evelyn loved her grandchildren more than anything and even had their initials on her license plate for years and years. She was a wonderful caring generous mother, wife, and grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all of us. Mom we all love you and will miss you. We are comforted knowing you are at peace and with God and your loving husband. We love you Mom and may God hold you close to his Sacred Heart for eternity.
