Everette served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC. He returned to Charlotte in 1954 and had a long career as a truck driver. He retired from Swinson Food Products and continued to drive for many years. He loved bird hunting, gardening, playing golf and racing, but most of all he loved his family and he loved life.
