A graveside service will be officated by Pastor Mix Williams at a future date. She was born at home on February 9,1924 on a cotton farm in Hamilton, Texas, to Julius E Munday and Edna Pearl (Stanford) Munday. She had five brothers and four sisters. Her upbringing taught her the value of honest labor, and that faith and family were the most important things of all. These core values would define her for the rest of her life; never turning away a family member in need and remaining steadfast in her unshakeable faith in God. Working in a cotton field as a teenager she met the man who would become the love of her life, Russell Stagner, a man of unimpeccable character. They wed August 12, 1944, at the ages of twenty and twenty one, before Russell was drafted in the army, where he fought the Pacific conflict of WWII, and then moved to Grand Prairie in 1946. A fifty year member of Westridge Baptist Church, she ran the nursery for thirty years. After Russell's death in 1972, she worked at Rocky Mountain Bank Note for twenty years, retiring at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and her husband. Evis is survived by her brother VB Munday, sisters Eunice Rowe, Faye Crumley, and Myrtice Phears; her daughter, Gayla Sowell, husband Gene, their son Ricky Stagner, his wife Lisa, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and uncounted nieces and nephews. In the end, this soft spoken woman, found herself the Matriarch of a family that will not be the same without her. MeMe we will miss you.

"Gayla, Kelly, Ricky and families. Evie was a wonderful person. I have such sweet memories of her. We were all blessed to have known her. May God comfort..." Carol and Tim Graves (Bloomfield, IN)
