E. E. "Dunny" Dunsworth, long-time resident of Rockport, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2013. He was born August 4, 1925 in Jet, Oklahoma. After enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943, he served as a fighter pilot in the South Pacific. He organized the Aviation Department for Trunkline Gas Company of Houston in 1950 and served as Manager of Aviation until his retirement in 1985. He was actively associated with the National Business Aircraft Association, having served on the Board of Directors from 1964 to 1973 and as President from 1969 to 1971. E. E. "Dunny" Dunsworth, long-time resident of Rockport, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2013. He was born August 4, 1925 in Jet, Oklahoma. After enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943, he served as a fighter pilot in the South Pacific. He organized the Aviation Department for Trunkline Gas Company of Houston in 1950 and served as Manager of Aviation until his retirement in 1985. He was actively associated with the National Business Aircraft Association, having served on the Board of Directors from 1964 to 1973 and as President from 1969 to 1971. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, U.S. Marine Corps Enlisted Pilots Association, Silver Eagles, Marine Corps Aviation Association and a life member of the VFW. Active in Aransas County civic circles, he served as president of the Rockport-Fulton Area Chamber of Commerce in 1993, was on the board of directors from 1990-1993, and chaired several councils, including the Economic Development Council. He was one of the founders of Aransas Citizens against Drugs in 1992 and was presented the 2004-05 Humanitarian Award by the Gulf Coast Counselors Association. Beginning in 1990, he served as president of the in Aransas County and received their Lifesaver Award in 1993; having taken cancer patients for treatment in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Houston for over 14 years, sometimes making two trips a day. He was president of Neighbors Interested in the Copano Environment, and served on the boards of the Good Samaritans and the Emergency Medical Service. As a tribute to his love of aviation, he organized the Fourth of July Air Show for Aransas County from 1992-2002. An active life-long Republican, he served 12 years as Republican precinct chairman; 3 years as election judge; 9 years as vice-chairman; and 6 years as chairman. He was a representative at 10 Republican State Conventions and 1 Republican National Convention. Dunny was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Engel, who passed away on March 4, 2013. Two daughters survive him: Debra Shoots of Dickinson and Jennifer Peterson of Friendswood; his grandchildren, Ryan Shoots of Houston, and Jamie, Riley, and Joshua Peterson; his brother Bill Dunsworth of Bay City and sister Eunice Pulver of Wichita, KS. Funeral services are at 10:00 am on Friday, November 15 in the Chapel of Angels at the Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston, with internment in the Forest Park Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the or a cancer research center of choice.
