FRED ADAMS Obituary

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Fred Lewis Adams, 88, of Reece City. Mr. Adams passed away, after a prolonged illness, Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Burial will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Reece City. Rev. Billy Tidwell of New Harmony Baptist Church, of which Mr. Adams was a lifelong member, will officiate.
Mr. Adams was born January 28, 1925. He was a WWII Veteran and a member of Masonic Lodge #383 for 56 years. Mr. Adams served on the Reece City Council for 16 years and was retired from Gulf State Steele. He was known as the "Cattleman of Reece City." Mr. Adams also served as Superintendent of the RA's of New Harmony for years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Tidwell Adams.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Faith) Adams; grandson, Justin (Angel) Hayes; granddaughter, Ambria Hayes; sisters: Eloise (Willis) Cunningham, Athens, TN, and Katherine Hibbs, Cullman, AL; sisters-in-law: Margaret (Red) Kimbrill, Gadsden, AL, and Odell (Roy) Whitt, Attalla, AL; a host of nieces, nephews; and very special friends Dallas and Linda Petty. A special remembrance goes to Elaina Andres.
Pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge #383 in Attalla.
Special Thanks to Dr. Thomas Harper, Alacare Home Health and Hospice, Riverview Regional Medical Center, Reece City Fire Department, Dr. Brooke Gorham, the staff of The Foot Clinic, and an abundance of friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 prior to the service.

Fred was a wonderful man. He was a good friend to my father and to all who knew him. He leaves so many friends who love him and will never forget his many kindnesses. May God comfort your hearts at this sad time.
