Obituary

Fannie Mae Aaron Darnell, 90, formally of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Darnell and a son, Michael Eugene Darnell. Ms. Fannie was born and raised in Jenkins County and attended local schools. She was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Later in her nursing career, she returned to school and earned her BS degree in nursing from Armstrong State College in 1975. Fannie Mae Aaron Darnell, 90, formally of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Darnell and a son, Michael Eugene Darnell. Ms. Fannie was born and raised in Jenkins County and attended local schools. She was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Later in her nursing career, she returned to school and earned her BS degree in nursing from Armstrong State College in 1975. Ms. Fannie retired from Memorial Health University Medical Center after 31 years of service. She was a member of the Armstrong Alumni, a life member of the Southside Baptist Church where she was in the Faith Sunday School Class until she moved to Brunswick in 2010 to be closer to her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother in law and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter in law, Ginger Darnell of Brunswick, GA; two granddaughters, Stephanie Waters, of Hooper, NE, Christy Crosby of Early Branch, SC; two great-granddaughters, Kacie and Kellie Waters of NE; a sister, Susan Odum of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00a.m. Monday, February 19, 2012 at Southside Baptist Church Funeral Service: 11:00a.m. at the church with Rev. Dr. Allan Bosson officiating. Burial: Hillcrest West Cemetery next to her beloved husband and son. Memorial Contrubutions: Southside Baptist Church, 5502 Skidaway Rd., Savannah, GA. 31406.
