Obituary

Fay R. Bodner, 91, died on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Overlook at Northampton, in Leeds, Massachusetts. A daughter of the late Paul and Sylvia (Lichtenstein) Robin, she spent the last eight years living at Rockridge Retirement Community in Northampton, near her daughter, Jill Bodner Lester.  She was predeceased by her husband, Nathaniel M. Bodner, to whom she was married for 50 years. Fay R. Bodner, 91, died on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Overlook at Northampton, in Leeds, Massachusetts.



A daughter of the late Paul and Sylvia (Lichtenstein) Robin, she spent the last eight years living at Rockridge Retirement Community in Northampton, near her daughter, Jill Bodner Lester.  She was predeceased by her husband, Nathaniel M. Bodner, to whom she was married for 50 years.



Fay, who was born in Providence, R.I., earned a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and a certificate of advanced graduate studies from Rhode Island College.  She started her career as a social worker, then  worked as a public school teacher and later became the first consultant for gifted students for the Rhode Island State Department of Education. She then served as Assistant to the Commissioner of Education for Special Populations.  When they retired, she and Nat split their time between Treasure Island, Florida and Provincetown, Massachusetts.  She moved to Clearwater, Florida after Nat passed away in 1996 and continued to spend her summers in Provincetown.



She leaves her daughter Jill Lester and her husband Howard (of Northampton), her son Peter Bodner and his wife Catherine (of Providence, RI), and her four granddaughters and their families,  Ilana and Jose Moreno (of New York City), Aviva and Mark Sieber and Tali (of Northampton, MA), Rachel  and Joseph Abatecola and Ian, Wesley, and Miles ( of Cranston, RI)., and Tovah and James Muro, and Ethan and Josephina  (also of Cranston).



There will be a private family service.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Deaconess Abundant Life Communities or to theMasonic Health System.
