Felicitas Zarate Embuscado was born March 6, 1933 in Dagupan City, Philippines. She graduated with an Education degree from Dagupan Colleges in 1954. In 1959, she married Fred Crescini Embuscado. With three children in 1969, the couple immigrated to Dallas, Texas. Their fourth child was born in 1979.
"Fely" was active in the Filipino American community of Dallas. She devoted many hours doing volunteer work for the growth of the Filipino community of North Texas. She was always surrounded by many friends, most of whom she considered family.
She was a home economics teacher by trade. Culinary Arts was Fely's specialty. She was known for having meals prepared at all times and welcomed the company of guests to share in her cooking. Cooking was ultimately her favorite pastime.
Her second favorite pastime was gardening. Over the years she cultivated flower and vegetable gardens, often growing favorite Filipino vegetables like upo, saluyut, ampalaya, sitao, and camote. She shared what she grew (including great recipes for them) for her friends to enjoy!
Family was most important to Fely having been an only child. Through the years as her family grew to include grand children, she most looked forward to spending time with them. She gave of herself by baby sitting and taking care of them whenever she could. She raised several of her grandchildren alongside her children. She was known as "Lola" and the children addressed her with endearment when they came to see her. Her face would light up with joy and love when her children and grandchildren came to see her.
Together with her husband, Fred, they made a loving home. From the time they met, she was spoiled with affection. She embodied the role of a housewife as well as a working mother. She managed the family at times when Fred was away on extended business trips, and she did it very well. Once the kids were grown, they spent some time traveling and enjoying each other's company.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Fred, and their four children, Lea and husband Dennis Phillips, Gene and wife Susie Embuscado, Louie and wife Sheila Embuscado, and Karla and husband Angel Rojas. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Rachel Coley, Andrew Embuscado, Melissa Coley, Lauren Coley, Jacob Embuscado, Mark Embuscado, Felicity Rojas, Drake Embuscado, and Gabriella Kate Embuscado.
The family will receive visitors at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home at 2951 S. Beltline Rd. in Grand Prairie on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 with a rosary prayer at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael the Archangel on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2pm.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put his His arms around you and whispered "Come to me." With tearful eyes, we watched you and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove us, He only takes the best.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
