Felipe Eduardo Aparicio, of Raytown, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Eduardo was born on June 14, 1946 in Oruro, Bolivia to parents Felipe and Bertha. He and his family moved to Cochabamba, Bolivia several years later, where he spent most of his childhood. After receiving the call to ministry, Eduardo went to San José, Costa Rica to study at the Seminario Bíblico Latinoamericano, which is where he met his wife Gladys. They were married in 1973 and lived and ministered in Costa Rica, the USA, and Bolivia before being called to serve as missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene in 1984. They served in Bolivia and Chile for eight fruitful years of teaching and training pastors before moving to Kansas City, Missouri to work at the Nazarene Headquarters for the World Literature Ministries department.
In 2004, Eduardo was invited to serve as interim pastor and then as pastor of Emmanuel Hispanic Ministries of College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas, where he continued to minister until his passing. In his 50 years of ministry, Eduardo traveled extensively, teaching workshops and courses in Bible, theology, and counseling throughout Latin America and the USA. Eduardo was preceded in death by his younger brother (Marcelo) and mother. He is survived by his wife, father, younger sister (Theresa), sons Samuel (married to Lisa) and Esteban, and two grandsons (Caleb and Evan).
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 22, at 3:30 pm at College Church of the Nazarene (2020 E. Sheridan Street, Olathe, Kansas). Visitation will be from 2:30 pm to 3:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to College Church’s “Mercy Project: Haiti,” which is serving the community of Mapou, Haiti. Checks can be made out to College Church of the Nazarene.
