ALLEN, FLORA S. – of Knoxville passed away Monday, January 23, 2012. She is the daughter of the late George and Ruth Sheldon. Mrs. Allen was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was a retired school teacher with the Knoxville City Schools. Mrs. Allen graduated from The University of Tennessee and later went on to obtain her Master's Degree, and was a member of the University of Tennessee Alumni Association and President's Club. She enjoyed gardening, crosswords, and playing bridge with her friends. Preceded in death by her soul mate and husband of 56 years Ronald R. Allen; son Ron Allen, Jr.; and brother Charles Ray Sheldon. Survived...
ALLEN, FLORA S. – of Knoxville passed away Monday, January 23, 2012. She is the daughter of the late George and Ruth Sheldon. Mrs. Allen was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was a retired school teacher with the Knoxville City Schools. Mrs. Allen graduated from The University of Tennessee and later went on to obtain her Master's Degree, and was a member of the University of Tennessee Alumni Association and President's Club. She enjoyed gardening, crosswords, and playing bridge with her friends. Preceded in death by her soul mate and husband of 56 years Ronald R. Allen; son Ron Allen, Jr.; and brother Charles Ray Sheldon. Survived by son Richard Allen, daughter Jennifer Allen; brother Harry C. Sheldon and several special nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at Weaver's on Friday January 27th from 5-7pm with a 7pm chapel service to follow. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Saturday at 10:45am for an 11am interment. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the "We Back Pat" fund in Flo's memory by mail to the Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc., 2270 Sutherland Ave. Suite 202, Knoxville, Tenn., 37919 or by phone (865) 544-6288.
