Florence E. Covey passed away at 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2014 at Sunshine Gardens Nursing Home in Spokane Valley, Washington. She followed her husband, James C. Covey, who passed away on January 9, 2014, and her two sons, Bill Covey and Sam Covey. Florence is survived by her son Tim Covey and his wife Joyce and those to whom she had been a mom to; by grandsons and granddaughters, Jeremy Covey, Allen Covey, Jeff Covey, Sonia Covey, Natasha (Covey) Forner and those to whom she had been a grandmother to and by her great-grandchildren. Florence was the last of a family of five brothers, her being the only girl. Her brothers in birth order were Ivan, Melvin, (then Florence), Don, Bob and Ted. Florence had many memories and stories and loved to share them. If you knew Florence you were in her prayers and if you let her know about your business she would make sure others knew about it, so then they could also pray for you. Florence always had the last word and was quick to say goodbye, when she ended the conversation. Any advice, criticism, or any other deed she did was done with so much love that it was hard to refuse it or be offended by it.
It was too hard for her to have her husband, Jim, gone and she was ready to be in Heaven with him. Her funeral and her husband Jim's memorial will be on February 20, 2014 at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA at 10:00 AM., with graveside at 11:30 AM at Pines Cemetery in Spokane Valley.

James C. Covey passed on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 7:50 in the morning. He was preceded in death by his sons; Bill Covey who passed away in 1971 and Sam Covey who passed away in 1981. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Florence Covey of 65 years. By his son, Timothy Covey and many that called him (Dad), by his grandchildren and many that called him (Grandpa), by his brothers, sisters, relatives, neighbors, and friends. In his lifetime, Jim was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a pastor, a truck driver, a mechanic, and a man of faith. Jim had many hobbies; a few were fishing, model trains and planes, and cameras. He was very meticulous in everything he did. He had a goal of keeping everything he had as close to original as he could (he had a tool for everything). Jim and Florence were members of the Open Bible Church, located in the Spokane Valley. For the last few months Jim had been at Colonial Court Assisted Living Home in the Spokane Valley. While he was there, he was visited by many relatives, friends, and neighbors, all of whom were able to talk of old times, laugh, shed a few tears and say good bye. He was loved and admired by many. Jim considered the visits he had in the last few months that he was alive, as a memorial to his life. As requested by Jim and his family, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane. The family would to say a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Colonial Court Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice.

"Jim and Florence's youngest son Sam and I were best friends. This couple was so amazing. They loved to laugh! You couldn't find a more wonderful couple." Doug Brecto (Post falls, ID)
