Florence Verda Hartog Adams, age 93, of Volente, passed on to be with her loving Savior on June 27, 2011.

She was born on December 5, 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri to Robert and Florence (O'Neil) Hartog, who precede her in death. Flo had been a resident of the Volente/Leander area for 53 years. She was retired from the LCRA and was a long time and active member of the Volente Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Jerry Adams; grandchildren, Mark and wife Trish Adams and Rebecca Adams; and three great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all her knew her.

The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10205 Ranch Road 620 North in Austin. Following the service, a party celebrating her life will be held at the Volente Volunteer Fire Department on FM 2769 from 11:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made in Flo's memory to the VVFD Auxiliary, 15406 FM 2769, Leander, Texas 78641 or the Williamson County Humane Society, 10930 East Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander, Texas 78641.

I was so sorry to her of your mother's death. I wasn't lucky enough to have met her, but have heard many stories of how sweet she was. May her memory sustain you.
I owe you a hug, as I am still in Va. with the grands and won't return in time for the service.

Dear Jerry and family,
Words cannot express what a kind and fun and funny lady that Flo was. I had the good fortune to meet her while working at the Next to New Shop. She was so sweet and needed a couch delivered out to Lake Travis and I volunteered my oldest Son Daniel. Daniel of course has lived out on the property with Mrs. Adams for about 10 years now. I loved Flo she was a wonderful woman! She was so cute she even arranged for Daniel to get me a mothers day present a massage gift certificate so that we could go together and get massages! I will always remember what a spunky and cute woman she was. I will miss visiting with her so very much. My deepest sympathy to the family. She was a doll.

Our family was fortunate to meet Mr. and Mrs. Adams by being their "lake" neighbors. Mrs. Adams always had a watchful eye on our youngest child and would entertain us with stories about living in Volente. Jerry, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
