Florence Scarpone Burke,
98, of Indianapolis entered into eternal rest on November 7, 2012 at St. Paul Hermitage in Beech Grove. She was born on April 14, 1914 in Indianapolis to August and Frances D'Ascanio Scarpone. She was a cost analyst for Link Belt for 26 years retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Oasis Club. She volunteered at Fatima Retreat House, St. Elizabeth Home, Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Florence was preceded in death by her husband James F. Burke, sister, Ida Polesel, brothers, Criss, William, and Patrick Scarpone, and son's-in-law, Robert Stubbs and David Piontek. She was the beloved mother of James F. (Barbara) Burke, Billie Stubbs, Maureen Piontek, Patricia Burke and Thomas (Joan) Burke. She was the devoted grandmother of James (Kim), Timothy, and Jeffrey (Kim) Burke; Drs. Maureen (Adam Minton), Anne–Therese (A.J. Bush) and Cailin (Dr. Kevin Bilant) Stubbs; Annette (Stephen) Couillard, and Kevin (Julie) Wilkinson; Christine (Patrick) Shea, Gregory Burke, and Kathleen (Eric) Hrabovsky. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Scarpone, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 10th at 10 am at Little Flower Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday November 9th from 4–8 pm at St. Paul Hermitage and also Saturday November 10th from 9am until time of service at Little Flower Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Florence's name may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Condolences may be offered at www.feeneyhornakshadeland.com

Dear Billie and Tom, Art and I were so sorry to hear that Mrs Burke passed away. She was a remarkable woman and her life will always be an inspiration for me. I will always remember the many family gatherings we had the privilage to join in and enjoy her company. May she rest in peace. I am praying for you during these difficult times.

Patty, I was so sorry to read about your Mother's passing.
I have to tell you that every time I make your Mom's meatballs I think of both of you. That is my family's VERY favorite meal..Do you remember giving me the recipe when we worked at the phone co.? My meatballs are never as good as your Mom's were. Mind are made with lots of Love as I know hers were also. I am in the process of making them now for Jerry's 76th birthday party.
How blessed you and your family are to have had your Mom in your lives.

I remember Florence from Holy Cross as I was growing up, then later at Fatima Retreat House. She was one nice lady. I'm hapy to have known her.
