Obituary

Floyd Marlatt, 90, died Sunday, November 25, 2012, in his residence. He was a native of Adrian, Michigan and had been a resident of Sulphur for nearly 50 years. Floyd was a World War II U.S. Army veteran having received two bronze stars while serving as part of the Pacific Campaign in New Guinea (Company B 126th Infantry, 32nd Red Arrow). He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur and was 3rd degree knight in the Knights of Columbus Council #8322. Floyd Marlatt, 90, died Sunday, November 25, 2012, in his residence.

He was a native of Adrian, Michigan and had been a resident of Sulphur for nearly 50 years. Floyd was a World War II U.S. Army veteran having received two bronze stars while serving as part of the Pacific Campaign in New Guinea (Company B 126th Infantry, 32nd Red Arrow). He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur and was 3rd degree knight in the Knights of Columbus Council #8322. He was an avid bowler, participating with several bowling leagues, and even won the KPLC Sports challenge when he was in his 70's. Floyd retired from Amoco after 33 years of service and enjoyed spending his time with his family and feeding the birds and squirrels.

Survivors include his four daughters, Connie Marlatt, Jackie Griffin, Debbie McComb and husband, Gilbert, all of Sulphur, and Marianne Anderson and husband, Ernie of Carlyss; seven grandchildren, David Griffin, Christopher Griffin, Kara Thibodeaux and husband, Brad, Secilia Michelle Gayle and husband, Travis, Gilbert McComb Jr, Michael Anderson, and Austin Anderson; and three great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Kyle, and Kahlee Thibodeaux. He is preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle Marlatt; and a sister, Charlene Dempsey.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 29, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with a scripture service at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary service, and will resume at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
