Obituary

Ford J. Pressler, Jr., age 90, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. Born to Ford and Marguerite Pressler in Houston, Texas, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served with the 69th Air Service Group in Guam where he built landing strips during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946, receiving the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He began a career as an engineer for Hughes Tool Co. in 1950 and later Mission Manufacturing (TRW/Sandvik) where he remained until his retirement in 1986. He was a...
Ford J. Pressler, Jr., age 90, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. Born to Ford and Marguerite Pressler in Houston, Texas, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served with the 69th Air Service Group in Guam where he built landing strips during WWII. He was a Senior member of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Ford was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was a life member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He is survived his wife of 63 years, Bernice Schmidt; sons, Dale W. Pressler of Houston, and Glenn A. Pressler of San Antonio; daughter, Carol P. McGilvray of San Antonio; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4115 Blalock, Houston, Texas 77080, with the Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
