Forest James ''Jim'' Lutz of rural Edon passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife of 56 years and his family.

Jim was the son of the late Lois and Walter Lutz of Ney, Ohio, and the grandson of the late Viola and Harry Lutz of Sherwood. He was born July 15, 1933.

He attended Ney High School and Defiance College and served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.

He married the love of his life, Illa (Jean) Hesselschwardt, of rural Defiance on September 22, 1956, at Marysdale Immaculate Conception Catholic Church now St. Isidore's in Defiance.

The couple moved to Edon in 1959 and to raise their growing family. He was the proud father of seven children: Belinda (Bill) Hamel of Oak Park, Ill., Chris Lutz of Seneca Lake, Ohio, Julia (Mark) Schwyn of Ashley, Ind., Angela (Tom) Rupp of Oak Park, Ill., Michael Lutz of Edon, Ohio, Beth Lutz (Michael) Chlumecky of Chicago, Ill., and Eric Lutz (Cynthia Buchanan) of Glenallen, Alaska.

Jim retired from Moore's Business Forms in Angola, Ind., in 1985 and began his own metal fabrication business.

He was involved with a number of community activities. He served on the Williams County fair board for many years. He worked as community supporter with the Northwest Township Auxiliary Foundation. He was a Master Gardener and used those skills working with the Williams County Fair Foundation, as well as his church, St. Paul's Catholic Church of Fremont, Ind.

Jim was also the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren: U.S. Army Capt. Blake Zenteno and Terra Zenteno, Sarah Lutz, Kyle (Kirsten) Schwyn and Laura Schwyn (Ernie, U.S. Marine Lance Corporal) Bartlett, Andrew and Leslie Rupp, Clayton and Andrea Lutz, Ellen, Eric, and Megan Chlumecky, and Arctic Buchanan.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Dietrich of Ney.

A sister, Mary Jane Clark, of Naples, Florida, survives.

Visitation is Friday, March, 22, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Ind., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March, 23, at St. Paul Chapel Catholic Church with Father Phil Schneider of St. Paul's Chapel officiating. Burial will be at Billingstown Cemetery in rural Edon. Military committal services will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the Fremont American Legion.
