Frances York Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 12, 2017.

On Friday May 12, 2017, the Angel of Death touched and sealed the lips of our beloved wife, mother, and friend, Frances Louise York. But in that same touch the Angel of Peace led her to higher grounds where she will forever be at rest in the Lord.

Frances Louise (Wadley) York was born to the parentage of Leonard and Jessie Mae Wadley on December 18, 1927 in Dallas, Texas. She attended Dallas Public Schools, Wheatley Elementary School and later graduated from Lincoln High School.

Frances was employed many years with Sears & Roebuck Company in Catalog Sales, where she remained a dedicated and loyal employee until her retirement.

Frances married Clyde E. York on July 24, 1959, and to this union one daughter was born, Gwendolyn Smith. Frances confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age and later united with the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in 1984. Frances has been loyal member of the New Birth Church for 58 years where she has served faithfully with the Mission #1 and Pastor’s Aide Committee until her health failed.

Frances leaves to mourn and cherish her memories: her beloved husband of 57 years, Clyde E. York; a loving daughter: Gwendolyn Albercrombie Smith; two loving sisters: Bobbie Burns and Lessie F. Holmes; three loving grandchildren: Tonette Albercrombie, Jeanene Martin and Teresa Campbell; ten great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends and church family that will greatly miss her.

“ Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” James 1:12 KJV
