Frances Rae Berry age 89 passed away March 16, 2012 in Angleton, Texas. She was born May 23, 1922 in Houston, Texas to Henderson C. and Rosa Berry. She was pre-deceased by her parents; brother H. R. Berry, sister-in-law Nina Berry, Sister Sue Arthur, and brother-in-law Ed Arthur. Frances attended school in Houston, Texas and graduated from Reagan High School. She continued her education in the field of social work at the University of Houston, the University of Texas and eventually earning her Master's Degree from Columbia University in New York. Frances Rae Berry age 89 passed away March 16, 2012 in Angleton, Texas. She was born May 23, 1922 in Houston, Texas to Henderson C. and Rosa Berry. She was pre-deceased by her parents; brother H. R. Berry, sister-in-law Nina Berry, Sister Sue Arthur, and brother-in-law Ed Arthur. Frances attended school in Houston, Texas and graduated from Reagan High School. She continued her education in the field of social work at the University of Houston, the University of Texas and eventually earning her Master's Degree from Columbia University in New York. Frances Resided in Texarkana, Texas for over 35 years. She was employed with the Texas Department of Human Resources as a supervisor in the Child Welfare Department. Her Responsibilities included many appearances in court, on behalf of children under the care of the state. She was a supervisor over the district in north Texas consistening of Bowie County and the surrounding areas. She retired from her work in the late 1960's continuing to reside in Texarkana. She was an active member with St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Texarkana, where she enjoyed singing with the Choir. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many productive trips to lake Murval in east Texas catching lots of perch, crappie, and her favorite the largemouth bass, one of her largest bass has hung proudly on her wall many years. Frances moved to Lake Jackson in February of 2007 to be closer to family. She is survived by niece Mary Lee Sparkman and husband Mike of Angleton, Her nephew, Lee Berry and wife Nancy of Lake Jackson, niece, Ann Arthur Keenon and husband James H. of Grandbury, Texas, Great nephew Lenny W. Sparkman of Angleton, great nephew Kevin Berry of Freeport, Great nieces Kimber James of Lake Jackson, Konnie Darrow and husband Stephen of Arlington, Texas, Great-great nephews Gregory Darrow of Arlington, Colin and Carsen Berry of Freeport, and Cole Michael Sparkman of Angleton, Great-great nieces Addie Berry, Katherine James and April James. A Graveside service will be held at Historic Hollywood Cemetery in Houston Texas on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 2pm with the Rev. Carol C. Turner of Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.restwoodfuneralhome.com.
