Frances M. Kancilia, 69, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on September 24, 2012 in Melbourne, Florida, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Frances was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, and spent her early years in the Asheville, North Carolina, area. Her family moved to Key West where she attended high school and was a member of The Conchette Dance Team. Frances worked for many years at Harris Corporation as a program administrator before becoming a full-time wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, John R. Kancilia, of Melbourne, Florida; children, Yolanda L. Sihler of Port St. Lucie, George (Chip) T. Stubbs, Jr. of Vero Beach, Robert J. Kancilia, II of Denver, Colorado, and Elizabeth C. Kancilia of Colorado Springs, Colorado; stepdaughter, Carrie A. Kancilia of New York, New York; sister, Sherry McNabb; and brother, Terry Sawyer; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her best friend and cousin, Louise Bartlett of Weaverville, North Carolina.
Viewing will be held at the Florida Memorial Funeral Home, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, September 28, 2012. The funeral service will be conducted at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Melbourne, Florida at 11:00 a.m., September 29, 2012. Interment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, Florida, after the funeral service. Please wear yellow to celebrate Frances's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
