Frances Marion Coleman Wellstead, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on October 18, 2013. Born in St. Petersburg, FL on August 23, 1963 she began her schooling at High Point Elementary School in Sandy Spring and graduated from Ridgeview High School in 1981. Fran continued her education at the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She graduated with a degree in Journalism in 1985.
After working in a number of areas in the journalism industry, Fran joined HBO & Co., a medical information and technology company, rising to the level of account executive. Fran briefly owned her own business, Fran Wellstead Productions. She was a freelance video producer and director.
She married Michael Ricardo Wellstead in 1993 and became a devoted wife and mother to their two children. Fran faithfully kept up with both her high school and college friends for the many years she lived in Atlanta. In 2001 she contracted an almost always fatal brain tumor, and was given no more than a five-year prognosis. Refusing to submit to radical brain surgery, Fran became an expert in macrobiotic diets. She attended a four-year series of classes in macrobiotic technology, receiving a degree as a registered practitioner of macrobiotic dietary practices.
Fran is survived by her husband of twenty years, Michael Wellstead, and Fran's family: daughter Madeline Wellstead, son Coleman Wellstead, step-father Edwin L. White, brother William L. Coleman (Michelle), step-brother Christopher D. White (Carolyn), step-sister Jeanne M. Borget (Steve), step-sister Jennifer L. Carter (Tony) and step-sister India A. Coleman (Sikes).
Memorial services will be held at the Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in East Cobb County on Thursday October 24th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Curing Kids Cancer, www.curingkidscancer.org.

I'm not sure if you will remember us, but Mike coached our son, Jackson, in Pinto league ball at Eastside!
Our family is very saddened to hear of Fran's passing. We are praying for an abundance of peace during this time.
