CHRISTIAN - Francis 'Frank' Ambrose, age 90, died Friday, June 21, 2014 at the QEII Halifax Infirmary. Born in Welland, Ontario, he was the son of the late John 'Bill' and Florence 'Flo' (Wilson) Christian, one of thirteen children. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Irene Doble-Christian, one son, Harris, Edmonton, Alberta; grandchildren: Kelly and Brian; five great grandchildren and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his first wife, Pauline. Frank was a veteran of WWII and earned numerous medals for his service in the Canadian Army. He was a Canada Post Carrier, an Engineer with the RCMP Marine Division and was Warden of the Correction Center when it was in Lower Sackville. Frank's affiliations were varied: He was a member of: The Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree), The Archbishop McCarthy Assembly, The Royal Canadian Legion and was a very active member of the RCMP 'Veterans' Association and was a Past President. He was President of The Northern Lights Seniors Club. Frank cherished his friendships and approached life with determination, whether card playing or volunteering. Visitation: 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated 10:30 am Wednesday at Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Normandy Drive, with Rev. Gilbert Bertrand OMI officiating, followed by reception and burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Blessed Mother Teresa Parish. Dear Irene, we are so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. We hope he went peacefully. We are going to miss his visits, we enjoyed them immensely. We would like to thank you for the companionship you gave him in his last years. He was very proud of your accomplishments and happy you were a part of his life. Mary Ann is arranging for a Mass to be said in his honour where he attended services with us. Our prayers are with you and Frank will always be in our prayers. We enjoyed meeting you and hope to see you again. You are welcome anytime.
