Francis "Frank" M. Mogan, Jr. LEXINGTON –Francis "Frank" M. Mogan, Jr. was born in Pittsburg, PA. March 27, 1928 and passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice White; father, Mel Mogan; brothers, Arthur Mogan and Del Mogan. Frank enlisted in the military in 1945 on his 17th birthday. While being stationed in Japan in 1949, he met his beloved future wife, Kinuko "Kitty". He rose through enlisted ranks then was commissioned as an officer, honorably serving until his retirement with the rank of Major in 1967. LEXINGTON –Francis "Frank" M. Mogan, Jr. was born in Pittsburg, PA. March 27, 1928 and passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice White; father, Mel Mogan; brothers, Arthur Mogan and Del Mogan.
Frank enlisted in the military in 1945 on his 17th birthday. While being stationed in Japan in 1949, he met his beloved future wife, Kinuko "Kitty". He rose through enlisted ranks then was commissioned as an officer, honorably serving until his retirement with the rank of Major in 1967.
After his retirement from the Army, he worked for Brown-Forman Distillers until he retired in 1984. He opened Kitty's Hallmark with his wife, Kitty in 1984. The business grew from one to seven locations in and around the Columbia area. Presently they have 3 locations still operating as well as a shopping center in Lexington.
While residing in Lexington, Frank gave back to his community. He was past President of the Lexington Rotary Club, Man of the Year with the Lexington Chamber of Commerce and was inspirational in creating the Lexington Fun Fest which is still held yearly.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Kitty Mogan. Other surviving members of his family are his children, Mike Mogan, Art Mogan, Kitty Ilisie and daughter-in-law Debbie Mogan; grandchildren, Trey Ilisie, Chad and wife, Bridget Ilisie, Robby and wife, Nicole Ilisie, Chelsea and husband, John Parrish, Brandon and wife, Tawni Mogan and Jared Mogan.; great-grandchildren, Stephen Mogan, McKenna and Ashton Ilisie, Ariana and Alexander Sanchez, Hanna Harris-Ilisie, Camden and Harper Mogan, Conner, Chase and Kat Ilisie.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
