Francis (Frank) G. Fry Jr. went to be with Lord on Sunday, November 4, 2012 following a period of declining strength and health. Frank was born in East Grand Rapids, Michigan to Francis G. Fry Sr. & Elizabeth H. Fry (Heyboer) on July 18, 1925. Surviving along with Marilyn, his wife of 60 years, are his two children; son Michael with his wife of 33 years Vicki Fry and his daughter Diane with her husband of 29 years, Sandy Quinlan. He is also remembered and loved by his 3 granddaughters, Crystal May, Breanna Bellino and Alishia Lawman as well as his 3 great-grandchildren, Jesse, Lucas and Anastasia Bellino. Preceding him in death is his sister Barbara.
Frank served as an Army Calvary Reconnaissance in WWII receiving a purple heart for injuries suffered during that time. Frank and Marilyn moved to Westminster California in 1957.
From his upbringing in a loving Christian home, enduring the Great Depression and surviving a World War, Frank had a strong passion to serve his community. In 1966 Frank became a councilman for the City of Westminster and remained on the council until he retired in October of this year for health reasons. During that time he was elected mayor 3 times as well as serving as Mayor Pro Tem. Frank has also served on numerous community committees and agencies over the past 46 years.
A deep part of Frank's character stemmed from his service to his country in World War II. Frank always had a great appreciation for all veterans of the armed services and grieved the lack of honor given to our Vietnam Veterans. As the city of Westminster's Vietnamese population began to grow and the Vietnamese people shared their appreciation with him for the sacrifices given by the American soldiers as well as their own, a desire began burning in Frank's heart to honor both the American and Vietnamese soldiers who fought for freedom in Vietnam. Frank believed that Westminster would be the perfect place to build the Vietnam War Memorial and so it is.

Frank Fry's fingerprints are all over this city and his name is on nearly every community building. Frank loved the city of Westminster and the citizens he served, and during this difficult time the community of Westminster has shown us how deeply they loved him too.

His family would like to take this occasion to thank their many friends in this wonderful community for the support and kindness offered them during this time of sorrow and over the many years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster, a particular passion of Frank's.

There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, November 13th from 5 pm to 8 pm at Westminster Memorial Park 14801 Beach Blvd.

Services will be held at Calvary Chapel Pacific Coast. 6400 Westminster Ave. Westminster, CA 92683 at 1:30PM on Wednesday November 14th.
