LTC Francis T. Adamo, Army of the United States, (Ret), entered into eternal rest on November 3, 2009 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, and funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6 at 9:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 6 at 10:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Frank was born on January 24, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. He was a veteran of 20 years which included service with Airborne Forces in Korea, Germany and Vietnam. Frank and his wife Carol believed in serving their community. He was a dedicated member of the Fort Sam Houston Optimist Club and volunteered at a number of locations including the San Antonio OASIS, McNay Art Gallery, Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas, Warm Springs Hospital, Brooke Army Medical Center, the Texas Department of Transportation, the Agape, and the Southwest Society on Aging. Frank and his wife Carol spent much of their social time at the Petroleum Club. They served as ambassadors for the club, and Frank served on the board of directors for three years. They enjoyed meeting friends at the club and appreciated all the fine efforts of the staff that made the club such a special place. Frank was an extremely devoted husband, father, and grandfather and a true friend who will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Rose Adamo of Brooklyn, New York and his brother, Joe Adamo of Long Island, New York. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Adamo; his son, Charles Adamo, and wife, Wendy, of Waco; his daughter, Alice Trammell and husband, Kevin, of Ocala, Florida; his grandchildren Anthony Adamo, Sean Adamo, Emily Adamo, David Jannasch, Joselyn Snyder, and Matthew Trammell; his great-grandchildren, Talia Snyder and Addison Trammell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Frank's memory to a charity of their choice
