Frank Greenway Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 4, 2017.

Frank Ray Greenway, 85, of Angleton, TX, passed away on May 1, 2017, in Galveston, TX. Frank was born on May 10, 1931 in Wolfe City, TX, to loving parents, Ray and Verda Lee Greenway. Frank married Barbara McClain in Dallas, TX on September 2, 1950.

Frank was a man of dedication. He was dedicated to his wife – spending over 66 years happily married to her. He was dedicated to his education, graduating from Texas A&M in 1954. He was dedicated to his country; he served in the US Army for two years, spending some time in Korea, and after his active duty period ended he continued to serve in the Army reserves with a total of 15 years of service throughout his life. Frank was dedicated to his faith, celebrating his faith for more than sixty years with Lake Jackson Church of Christ. He was dedicated to his family, providing for them by working day and night to provide them with shelter, food, and other necessities. He spent more than 37 years teaching Ag/FFA at Brazosport High School, retiring in 1989.

Frank was also a man of work. He was incredibly hard working, always fixing, cleaning, or just making his world a better place. He loved work, especially that which would be called farm work. He spent years working in the hay fields, spending many hours on a tractor, and working in his community to share his love of this kind of work – he worked tirelessly with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and helped with the Brazoria County Fair.

Finally, Frank was a man of love. He truly loved his wife, dedicating his time and work to her. He loved the children that their marriage produced. He was a role model to his children, who to this day still call him "Daddy." His grandchildren also found his love to be ever present, and his dedication to them inspired their nickname for him – "Papa." Frank is already missed, and he will never be forgotten.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Ray Greenway and Verda Lee Stidham Greenway. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Joann and Cindy.

Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; his daughters, Diane Clark, Sherrie (Stan) Hudson, and Carol (Michael) Patterson. He is further survived by his granddaughters, Donna (Gus) Poveda, Bridgette (Jim) Hennessee, Stacy (Tyler) Arnold, and Lori (Michael) Talamendez; as well as grandsons, Scott (Christie) Lewis, Josh Clark, Cory (Melody) Hudson; and 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and other extended family.

Visitation of Friends and Family will be held starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Restwood Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will then be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Lake Jackson Church of Christ. Following the funeral services Frank will be laid to rest at Restwood Memorial Park.

Hope it soothes your souls to know that life's final journey leads to what waits for us in the grace and beauty in heaven. Take comfort in knowing that now you have a very special guardian angel to watch over you until you meet again at the pearly gates. As you go through this time of sadness, may you always know in your hearts how much others care.
