Frank H. Brown passed from this life to the life triumphant on September 20, 2013

A celebration and remembrance of Frank's life will be held on Monday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Chuck Marbry; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4 until 6 pm at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty.

Frank was the eighth child born to J.F. and Margaret Fields Brown on June 23, 1918. He was a lifelong resident of Julian except for his service in the 51st Air Service Squadron of the US Army Air Corps from 1941 through 1945, being honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. The service took him to England, North Africa, Sardinia, and France. He was proud of his service to our country and participated in the reunions of the 51st over the years.

Upon his discharge he opened a store in downtown Julian with his brother, Mack. Later he began a 30 year career at Banner and Truelove Company. He cared greatly about his community and was a charter member of the Julian Lions Club, serving as its first president. He was a lifelong member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was instrumental in establishing the Shiloh Memorial Association. A hard worker, his greatest joy was taking on any type of project for family and friends.

Along with his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Pauline Kivett Brown; sisters, Elizabeth, Mada, Eva Garrett (Zeb), Helen Harris (Wade); brothers, Buck (Bessie), Jim (Madge), Murphy (Mable), Laster (Pat), and Mack.

He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Rettig (Dave) of Blacksburg, VA and his son, Neil Brown (Patricia) of Charlotte; as well as his grandchildren, Eva Rettig, Dustin Rettig, Amanda Schroder (Thomas), Tate Brown (Catherine Hunter) and sister-in-law, Maxine Brown.

At the family's request, memorial contributions may be directed to The Julian Lion's Club, PO Box 21, Julian, NC 27283, Shiloh United Methodist Church Building Fund, 7394 Shiloh Road, Liberty, NC 27298, Emeritus Employee Fund, 5326 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Emeritus at South Park in Charlotte for the compassionate care that Frank received during his last days.
